Content Management - Editing and Updating the Content

Before getting into the publication stage, the content developed by the author needs to be reviewed and edited.

The main aim of this phase is to ensure that the content and web design material matches the regular standards and that the media elements are ready for publication. Every website owner or company will have their own standards and guidelines that will be followed in all their products and it is the responsibility of the editor to make sure that the content meets the need as well as the quality standards set.

If the material is just a text document, the editor will review and will perform a spelling and grammar check. The editor will also check whether the facts and figures written are accurate or not. The editor will also check the content flow, clearness, and the attention grabbing nature of the content. Then, the editor sends the first draft f the content back to the author fix the review comments and corrections. The editor provides a detail description of what needs to be changed or updated and whether the content material meets the standards or not.

The author makes the necessary updates to the document based on the editor’s review comments before sending the final version for publication. After the updation phase, the second draft of the document is sent to the editor for verification. The editor then checks the second draft and verifies if the material is compliant with the company or website owner’s standards.

There is no specific time line for edit reviews, as the editing is largely based on the content type, size, and the number of errors. The editor should also efficiently communicate the changes or updates to the author so that the author finds it easy to understand and quickly update the document.
